Seventy-fifth Charter Night Dinner

Members and guests of Lochaber Rotary Club met in the Alexandra Hotel on 2 November  to celebrate their 74th Charter Night Dinner and enjoy a trip around the world in seven international dishes.

Club President Malcolm MacRaild very ably hosted the event and Past-President Paul Brian, demonstrating his surprising skills as a sommelier, guided guests through the seven wines that complemented the meals.

During the course of the evening Carys Jones from Fort Augustus, winner of the Premier Scots Traditional Award 2023, performed four lovely haunting tunes – Roslyn Castle, Moon River, The Isle of Innisfree and Maggie West’s Walz – on the clarsach.  Guests responded with warm applause.

The Toast to Lochaber Rotary was well delivered by Oban Rotary President Peter Tosh and the night finished on a high with an adept and sure-handed few words from President Malcolm and a toast to “Rotary and Peace the World Over”.
