Young Photographer Winners

We have again had enthusiastic entrants and excellent submissions from Lochaber High School and can now report on the winners.  We are very grateful to honorary member, local photographer, Iain Ferguson, for his assistance with judging the entries.

Intermediate Winner:

Ashleigh Irvine

Ashleigh is a budding photographer and artist. She enjoys taking photographs of sunsets, beaches and wildlife. In her spare time Ashleigh enjoys sports in the great outdoors. Always a perfectionist, her winning entry captures a small moment of calm, as a dragonfly takes a moment’s rest on a wet Lochaber day.

Intermediate Runner-up:

Kalen MacLeod

A talented young photographer, Kalen enjoys using his Canon camera to capture wildlife. He was initially taught photography by his Grandad and now enjoys visiting different parts of Lochaber, where they go on shoots together. When not shooting wildlife, Kalen enjoys photographing his family and landscapes.

Senior Winner:

Lyca MacInnes

Lyca, also in S6, is currently studying Higher Photography as well as Advanced Higher Art. A creative student, Lyca hopes to study Animation after school. Her photography practice focuses on the unusual and eerie, including nighttime photography using long exposure lighting experiments and empty, liminal spaces. Her winning entry caught a spider astride it’s web.

Senior Runner-up:

Holly Chandler

S6 pupil Holly, is currently studying Higher Photography and has fallen in love with taking photographs. She frequently visits a croft in Glencoe, where she has been shooting portraits of a wide variety of creatures, from pygmy goats to ostriches.
